Bone and Muscle Research Group (BMRG)

1. Introduction

The BMRg is a newly created research group of Ton Duc Thang University. The BMR group was established with the support from the University’s Foundation for Science and Technology Development (FOSTECT). The main research focus of the Group is osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, sarcopenia, and obesity-related problems.

The BMRg brought together scientists from various disciplines, including clinical medicine, clinical epidemiology, genetics, and basic research, who have special interest in bone research.

2. Mission and vision

Our vision is to build the Bone and Muscle Research Group as a leading center for research into osteoporosis and bone diseases, and through which we contribute to better health in Vietnam and internationally.

Our mission is to discover, impart and translate knowledge pertaining to biological mechanisms, etilogical risk factors and genetic factors into prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.

3. Research topics

• Bone architecture in osteoporosis and osteoarthritis: longitudinal study.

• Osteoarthritis: Interaction between environmental factors and genetic.

• Genetic determinants of the association between osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.
