Computational Optics Research Group

1. Introduction

Computational Optics Research Group (CORG) is a research group founded by Ton Duc Thang University. This group mainly focuses on optical device theory and design, from which the simulation of the device functions and characteristics is based on the realistic device parameters that can be fabricated and practical used. The simulation methods are the current available commercial software programs such as MATLAB, Opti-wave, Lumerical FDTD etc.

2. Mission and vision

• (A) Design and manipulation of the multi-function electronic device based on the plasmonic devices and circuits, (B) Design and manipulate the naked-eye 3D perception using a micro-ring conjugate mirror, (C) Design, manipulate and fabricate the optical force and torque probe for molecule trapping and transportation and (D) Theoretical study, design and manipulate the photons behaviors in a microring system, (E) Design and manipulate the photonic crystal nano-cavity for the optical devices.

• Outreach activities such as academic-industry collaboration, exchange students, conducting world class seminars, workshops on cutting-edge technologies, organizing symposiums and conferences and high impact paper publications.

Position: Head of Computational Optics Research Group, Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Areas of expertise: Computational Nano-optics: is the study of the behavior of light on the nano-meter scale regime, and of the interaction of nanometer-scale objects with light, which is a branch of optics, optical engineering, electrical engineering, and nanotechnology. The combination between metallic and optical components is also included that can transport both electron and light using the surface plasmon behaiors. The new device using the graphene material is also the research targets
