Division of Computational Mechanics

1. Introduction

- With the necessary and practical requirements in the Computational Sciences, they always demand there are many more the effective and accurate computational methods applied to simulate and solve practical problems on computers.

- Besides, we have received and studied experiences and dedication in scientific research, education, and transfer of technology from Vietnamese and foreign professors, experts.

- The effective and suitable strategies are devoted to construct and develop the excellent, positive and enthusiasm human resources in scientific research.

- Basing on objectives of Ton Duc Thang University to be become the research university, we need to invest much time and energy for the research groups.

- On above demands, the division of Computational Mechanics of Ton Duc Thang University was organized on March, 2010. The division has been located at Room C1001, Ton Duc Thang University, Number 19, Nguyen Huu Tho Street, Tan Phong, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

2. Mission and vision

In order to make the model of the excellent research group in Vietnam, DCM has three main missions:

- Build the clear and suitable orientations in the scientific research, consisting of solving the mechanical problems and publishing the high quality journal papers.

- Organize biweekly seminars, conferences, meeting with lots of national or international research groups. These scientific activities help members of DCM, students to be supported, improved, and educated in major fields of Computational Mechanics.

- Perform transfer of technology such as consulting, supporting, transferring, applying engineering and technology in Computational Mechanics.

3. Research topics

The research focus of Division of Computational Mechanics is Computational Solid Mechanics with emphasis on method development for problems involving fracture and failure of solids and fluid-structure interaction.

- Constitutive modeling;

- Material instabilities, fracture, strain localization;

- Numerical methods (extended finite element and meshfree methods);

- Isogeometric analysis;

- Computational fluid-structure interaction;

- Biomechanical engineering.
