Optoelectronics Research Group

1. Introduction

Optoelectronics research group (OPTO) is a research group funded by Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) and belongs to Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The objective of OPTO is to propose research solutions to LED design and technology. LED technology offers benefits such as high efficiency, extreme durability, energy savings and less environmental impact. LED lighting has been considered as the most potentially general illumination solution in the future. For this reason, it is important to provide the solution to increase the quality and decrease the cost of LED lights.

2. Mission and vision

The mission of OPTO is to conduct world-class research, train world-class graduates, and create new technology. OPTO aims at producing peer-reviewed publications of the highest rank. Besides, this group is a part of Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of TDTU to develop scientific research in term of paper, training, and research quality.

3. Research topics

• Improving the optical properties of white LED lamps.

• The design of multi-segment freeform lens for LED fishing/working lamp with high efficiency.

• The design of freeform lens for LED light with high efficiency and uniform illumination.

• Energy efficiency LED driver integrated circuits (ICs).

• Others.
